My mistake is your gain. Several of my daylilies were divided a couple of years ago but not labeled. I've been waiting for them to bloom so I could label them. But the spot where I have them in the greenhouse doesn't get enough sun, and they haven't bloomed. I'm tired of waiting for them, and it's time to find them a new home. I suspect some of these are the large double orange with darker marks which is prolific in my greenhouse. But some are not; I have several rebloomers in stock, as well as several with contrasting throats, eyes, etc. Colors range in the whole daylily rainbow: yellows, oranges, pinks, reds, purples. Potluck will be your luck! Daylilies are often called "the perfect perennial", and for good reason. These are the size I generally sell for $8.50 per plant, with many having multiple fans. Be sure to plant them in a good sunny spot, and they should bloom faithfully for you beginning next year.

Sempervivum tectorum, or "hen and chicks," is generally listed as hardy to zone 4. The name "sempervivum" translates to "live forever," which reflects its hardiness. Native to the Alps, these plants are very easy to grow, even in almost pure rock, but will not tolerate over-watering. This plant will be a beautiful focal point in your garden, and will quickly produce its own "flock of chicks."

Nepeta cataria attracts pet cats, and causes them to rub on the plant, roll on the ground, drool, be sleepy or anxious, or consume much of the plant. Catnip has a history of human medicinal use for its soothing properties. It has also been known to have a slightly numbing effect. The plant has been consumed as a tea, juice, tincture, infusion or poultice. Nepetalactone is a mosquito and fly repellent. Catnip oil is a repellent against mosquitoes, cockroaches and termites.

They grow in clumps from underground bulbs and produce round, hollow leaves that are much finer than onion. In mid-summer, they produce round, pink flowers similar in appearance to clover. Chives prefer a full sun location and are tolerant of a wide variety of soils but will grow best in soils that are high in organic matter. Chives are most commonly propagated by dividing the clumps in early spring. Clumps should contain about 4-6 bulbs. Plants that are harvested frequently benefit from supplemental fertilizer during the season. Chives can self-sow and overtake a garden unless flowers are removed before they fade. Chives also make attractive edging in the perennial border and flowers can be cut for arrangements.

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), considered a "calming" herb, is a member of the mint family. It was used as far back as the Middle Ages to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep, & improve appetite. Nowadays it is used extensively as a mosquito repellant and to attract bees. Chewing a leaf will freshen your breath, or you can soothe a bug bite by placing a leaf of lemon balm on it. It's delicious sprinkled on fruit salad, mixed into muffins, or made into tea. An interesting alternative to lemon balm, the leaves of orange mint are infused with an intoxicating scent of Mandarin Orange, and are very popular for brewing a calming tea. The leaves can also be used to flavor soups, salads, fish dishes and herb vinegars. Dried leaves can be added to homemade potpourri or herb pillows. This plant is very nice for growing along walkways or in patio containers, where the scent can be appreciated. Bees love this plant! Plant where the scent can be enjoyed. In Greek cooking, oregano is used in tomato sauces, with meats, fish, cheese, egg dishes, salads, cheeses, and with vegetables including tomatoes, zucchini, and green beans. It is also used to prepare a tea that is believed to be a treatment for indigestion, coughs, and to stimulate menstruation. As with most herbs, oregano leaves taste best before the plant flowers. You can begin harvesting when plants have reached 4-5 inches in height. Cutting stems all the way back to the ground will encourage more stems and a fuller plant. The stems tend to get woody, and the easiest way to strip the leaves is to hold the stem by the top, uncut end and run your finger down the stem. Greek oregano also makes a nice edging plant and ground cover, requiring little maintenance.

I believe I was a bit over-zealous in dividing my Rudbeckias. I need the space for other great plants as well, so I've cut the price on these lovely fall bloomers. Some of these are young plants which may not bloom this year, but I'm willing to guarantee that they will be spectacular by next fall. All plants are identical except for size; I will sell the largest ones first, so get your order in now for color this fall.

This azalea has large white flowers streaked a very little with pink. It is easy to grow in light to medium shade, and is cold-hardy and weather resistant. Its growth is vigorous but disciplined, and it will reliably cover itself with color in early spring. Because the bushes are the same size as the rest of my azaleas, I have chosen to show you a closeup of the color of a "typical" bloom.
