Market News

Good morning! The market is open and ready for orders! I am sure everyone is thinking about 4th of July plans but don’t forget the rest of the week, what might you need for next weekend even? Herbs, meats, vegetables, garden plants, prepared foods, treats and so much much more is available this week!

We are so truly blessed to live in a land where we have many choices and appreciate every single vote you make with our dollars with local businesses like our farmers/makers on Stones River Market. These families depend on your votes for the ability to pay bills and for their continuity to provide for you!
THANK YOU for all you do!

I appreciate Nicole coming and greeting everyone who ordered with samples of her DELICIOUS Smirk ice cream! Which is your favorite? Our house is divided throughout the flavors for sure and that is great because it means there is something for EVERY taste bud!

The conversations with Nicole have shown me how hard-working (for her family AND her customers) she is, dedicated to TOP-NOTCH service and quality of product. Plus, she is appreciative, kind and is so happy to serve you! Thank you for supporting her family in their adventure!

Linda sends this note from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: We have updated our pictures, especially of thyme plants, as well as several others. If you’ve been thinking of picking up a thyme plant for your herb garden, we have a great selection of lush plants available. We also have several lovely hanging baskets still available for more sunny locations. A few daylilies are still blooming, and we have a great selection of perennials for shady locations.

Thanks!

Blessings,
Linda

I see these plants come through each week (with a bit of jealousy that they aren’t going into my garden!) and love that Linda is being supported and the work of her heart and hands is in your gardens!

Short Mountain Cultures is away this week and returns next week!

There is SO MUCH on the market this week! I am feeling gushy love for the farmers AND the customers this week and need to do some sort of giveaway but just not sure what! IT WILL BE A SURPRISE!

To enter, JUST ORDER, pick up or choose delivery, pay and that’s it! I’ll announce the winner next Sunday and what the prize is.. that will give me a minute to think about giving you something awesome!

See ya on the porch!

Market News

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has recently added several new items and brought back some old favorites. New on the market this week is Lemongrass, so useful in Asian cuisine. Lavender, Greek Oregano, Sage, and Basil also rejoin the herb plant lineup this week. There is no need to buy dried and bottled herbs from the grocery when you can get just about any herb fresh-cut on Wednesday morning from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse.

The tall red Carnations are beginning a second bloom cycle, soon to be followed by the dwarf reds and several shades of pink within the next week or two. When they get back into full bloom, I will once again offer the “Garden in a Vase.” We have just one very special large Flame Violet hanging basket, whose beautiful bronze foliage and bright orange-red blooms would be perfect on your porch or patio this summer. And we have one very large beautiful “Hanging Herb Garden,” containing parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, a wonderful gift for any chef or baker. The dwarf red reblooming daylily is also looking really good this week, although it’s in limited supply, and the tall double orange daylily will join it by the end of the weekend.

All the houseplants and out-of-bloom perennials are still available as well. Check my list and find something for that problem area or empty place in the garden. With over a hundred plants to select from, you’re sure to find that perfect one. And I’m always available by email if you have any problems or questions.

###

Thanks so much!

Blessings,
Linda

Happy Father’s Day to you, wonderful fathers!

Thank you for your responses to our “What do you do in our community” email. In a week or so, a compiled list will be added to our Facebook page and emailed to each customer.

Meantime,

Ann E. May’s Gluten-Free Goodies sends this note:
Thank you so much for stopping by the Ann E Mays table last Wednesday! We really appreciate your support. For those of you who are new, or don’t know, Ann E May’s is a dedicated gluten free cottage kitchen, and most of the baked goods are made by my 14 year old daughter Abbie. Baking is what she loves to you, and being on a restricted diet is hard for anyone. The encouragement she receives when she sets up a table at the market, is a blessing! So thank you!

My girls will be there again this coming week, so please feel free to stop by and sample one of Abbie’s gluten free goodies!

Thanks, Anita

Smirk fruit-sweetened ice cream samples were also a big hit last week!

Erdmann farm has TOMATOES!!!

Do check out all the produce rolling in, the baked goods so fresh and delicious, prepared foods, meats, eggs, bath and body and live plants for your gardens!

It has been wonderful to see folks from the market at The Center for the Arts production of Legally Blonde! So much local talent and support of the theater. Ashleigh and I are heavily invested and involved as well.

We also have appreciated seeing customers at the Murfreesboro Saturday Market which is in its second week for 2017. Many of our farmers are at this market as well so you can see their full set-up, products and ask questions to truly know your farmer/maker.

If you think you have seen it all when you cruise through Quinn’s Mercantile, Tracy will have updated and added amazing products just as you’ve walked out the door! We cannot express how much we appreciate her and her staff! Extremely accommodating and welcoming! THANK YOU!

See ya on the porch!

Market News

Good morning!

Smirk’s first week with us was beautifully successful and we do hope you enjoyed the tasty treats! Nicole will join us with SAMPLES on Wednesday so come see us, meet your ice cream maker!

The Krafty Kupboard has a LOT of products back in stock this week including honey wheat bread, challah bread, several types of hummus, granola, superfood trailmix and much more! Stock up this week! With summer farmers markets also up and running, Stephanie will be restocking on at least a bi-monthly schedule! Take advantage.

Annie May’s Gluten-Free Goodies will also be set up with samples and extras for sale… what a sweet week!

Linda at Dogwood Valley Greenhouse sends this note:

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has lots and lots of herbs available! We have both plants in gallon pots, and fresh-cut harvested herbs for those who may not have a good garden place for the plants. You can order a large amount of fresh-cut herbs to liven up your summer cooking… or a giant amount to dehydrate and save for winter. You can even order a beautiful large hanging herb garden which would be a very special gift.

Perennials blooming now include: balloon flower, daylilies, coneflowers (in limited supply), Dianthus and Gaura continuing from early spring, coral bells, salvia, sedums, Stokes asters, Tradescantia, and Yarrows. The Shasta daisies are about to begin blooming any minute now. Of course the plants which have gone out of bloom are also still available for purchase, but you should always consider the time of bloom when purchasing perennial plants.

All the various types of ferns look great too, and will do well in the shady garden next to their more colorful friends. I have added a couple of new flowering hanging baskets, and also brought back some old favorites.

Blessings,
Linda

Frontier Family Farm has BLUEBERRIES! YES! Also available is baby bok choi and White Kohlrabi.

The Krafty Kubpoard sends this note:

Farrar Farm has 8 ounce burger patties ready for your backyard feast!

Sweet Pea has these interesting pods called Rat Tail Radishes and brought a few last week to sample. Amazing bean-like pods! A delicacy in India, this radish does not produce an edible root, but a delicious, bean-like seed pod. This radish was introduced in 1866 at the International Horticultural Exposition in London.
A touch of spice and very tasty!

See ya on the porch!

Good morning market family! Cannot believe it is May already! Bring on the shorts, sweet corn and summer vegetables ;D

First things first though, Linda with Dogwood Valley Greenhouse send this note:
Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has too many choices for your Mother’s Day shopping! We have added to the market several types of lovely flowering hanging baskets and some colorful planters with violas, snapdragons, and dianthus. Please check out our new terracotta herb planters as well. We’ve added a limited number of adorable miniature carnation “gardens in a vase.” And last, we have some tomato and pepper plants in gallon containers for Mother’s vegetable garden. Don’t forget about our beautiful perennial plants for Mother’s favorite garden spot (sun or shade, we have them all); herb plants for her culinary, medicinal, or ornamental garden; and foliage hanging baskets for her porch or patio. I will even be glad to deliver your purchase of $25 or more on Saturday if you prefer not to keep it for several days.

Catherine with Flying S Farms has added SLICED bread to her loaf offerings! If you are a clutz with the bread knife, THIS is your answer! You can still purchase her loaves unsliced if you are the “tear a hunk and eat it” lover! Awesome to have this option, Thanks Catherine!

Short Mountain Cultures is working with two new vendors this week. Nature’s Cornerstone and Wise Butter are both locally owned and operated but live just a bit too far to make it to market! Enter folks who love supporting local and want to bring some of the products they know and love to our market! Each product will clearly state who the maker is and about them!
We appreciate this opportunity to widen the offerings for our market!

If you took the milk survey, THANK YOU! We will have more information very soon!

Botanical Harmony Farm will have sprouts back next week. This week they add a garlic, mullein ear oil for minor ear aches/pain associated with seasonal colds and allergies. Our organically grown garlic along with wild harvested mullein flowers bring a gentle antibiotic effect and soothing pain relief. This ear oil is also wonderful for loosening wax in the ear and perfect for use before and after ear candling. Quantities are limited until this year’s mullein harvest and shelf life can be prolonged in the refrigerator!

Check out what Quinn’s Mercantile has inside that is perfect for Mother’s Day gifts~ Fill a beautiful basket that mom will go nuts over!

See ya on the porch!
