Welcome to the third week of JUNE, temperatures are heating up, great time to prepare your grills and firepits for some great cookouts and products from our Great Selection of Growers! There have been many local Farmer’s Markets that have opened, beat the heat and crowds and the challenge of parking and support the Growers on Stones River Market. Grower’s on our Market are local, within a 35 mile radius and a few of our Growers only sell through our Stones River Locally Market, thank you for supporting our local Grower’s.

Please share our market web address with your health-conscious friends, via text, email, or social media (and/or forward this message). https://stonesriver.locallygrown.net The more healthy members we have, the more variety of produce and product we can provide!

Grower’s News:

Bean Man: Happy Father’s Day! We trust everyone is enjoying the somewhat cooler weather.

We have our full selection of Fresh, Non GMO, Gluten Free products available for you this week. Don’t overlook our Cassava and Coconut Bread Mixes with each package containing 2 packs of dry ingredients (you supply the wet ingredients) to make 1.5+ pound delicious loaves of shortbread which can be sliced thick or thin to your preference. If you prefer a taller loaf more suited to a sandwich, just use a more narrow loaf pan such as the disposable 3.5 wide x 8 long ones found at the grocery store which increase the height from 2.5" to about 3.5". For those looking to reduce carbs, the Coconut Bread checks in at 2.4 net carbs per slice based on 10 slices per loaf and you can reduce the count further with thinner slices. Due to schedule, we won’t be offering the baked loaves this week but they’ll be back soon!

If you’re looking for an easy and light snack, check out our Black Bean Dip Mix – each package comes with 4 packs with each pack making about 3.5 cups of dip – all you need is water and salsa. You can also have sour cream as a side or thin topping if preferred. If you are Gluten Free, try “On The Border” chips found in the grocery store – we’ve tried several and these are really good.

RC Farms: Along with a great assortment of produce and BEEF we now have some popular fruit available and more to come. Find Cantaloupes, Peaches & Cream Corn and Peaches this week. We’ve restocked our Beef selections.

Terry’s Treasures: I have started making beautiful hand painted vases that will let you showcase your own beautiful flowers. Several different color designs or you can request your own color.

Quarter Spring Farm: we have a plethora of plump chickens for your culinary escapades. We just finished processing our first batch of the year, so these are some fine fresh fowl. We also have our usual assortment of skin softening soaps and lotions. And we just introduced a brand new scent of lotion: coconut lime. Now you can smell like the beach, even if you’re actually stuck inland with the rest of us.

Sow’s Ear Piggery: we are back on the market this week with ‘NEW’ Non-GMO pork products, including pork tenderloin, cutlets, and chops, as well as roasts, ground pork, and mild pork sausage (no MSG).
You will notice some packaging changes with the ground products, as our butcher was unable to source the typically tube-like sleeves we are accustomed to getting. Also, this order was from a pig with a higher fat percentage due to its heritage breeding. In the past, if you have needed to add a little oil to fry our sausage or ground pork, this will not be necessary. In fact, you will be able to drain a couple of tablespoons of oil from your skillet. This rendered lard is excellent for sauteing garlic, onions, mushrooms, or cooking eggs. Studies have shown that outdoor, pasture-raised pigs have higher omega 3 and lower saturated fat than commercial pork raised in warehouses on concrete with no access to foraging. As always, Sow’s Ear Piggery pork is non-GMO fed and USDA inspected.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): We’ve got onions, radicchio, and giant red mustard! Also check out our pestos, gourmet mustards, and our beautiful wildflower arrangements.

Flying S Farms: This week we have our Fresh Farm Chicken Eggs, Green Garlic Bulbs, Yellow Straight neck Squash, Cucumbers, Onions and Potatoes, Sour Dough Breads, Plain and the our Wheat Bread is Back. Few popular Jams are back with more to come this week – Just Strawberry, Seriously HOT Strawberry, Habanero Peach, Muscadine Grape Jelly and more!

Thank you and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
