Welcome to this weeks Stones River Locally Grown Online Farmers Market. The Market is open from 8:00 am on Sunday Morning and closes 10:00 pm Monday evening. Order early before quantities available run out! https://stonesriver.locallygrown.net

The Market is OPEN…..hope everyone is ready for some wonderful, delicious and helpful and new items on the market this week.

THANK YOU Customers for your patience during our second ‘Curb Service’ in front of Quinn’s Mercantile. Several of you had your name showing as you arrived, very helpful and appreciated.

For those that didn’t see last week Weblog, we made the suggestion: to put your name on your side window. It was very helpful for the ‘Porch’ Assistance’s to see when you drive up. (Sort of like picking up your child at school!) It will help them assemble your order with less waiting.

A special thank you to Tracy Toy owner of Quinn’s Mercantile for hosting the Stones River Market and providing us a place to share and promote the local growers and artisans within the Murfreesboro area. Although the Mercantile is closed during the quaranteen period, you can order unique gifts for everyone, including clothing, home decor, balloons, paint, pet products, and gifts from their website https://quinnsmercantile.com

We have Delivery Service available within a 10 mile radius of Murfreessboro and will deliver to Woodbury to a host location.

News from Some of Growers:

Welcome Emerald Acres located in Eagleville. She will be providing the market with flowers and later in the season produce. This week she has a beautiful bouquet of Ranunculus that will surely brighten your day during this quarantine time.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): We have more Miners Lettuce, Forage Greens, Red Pepper Hummus, and some brand new Herbal Honeys!…..Want an alternative to your typical salad? Get our Miner’s Lettuce, full of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Iron. Our Forage Greens are tasty, nutrient dense, and quite delicious, too….. Try our new Spearmint Honey and Spring Tonic Honey, with Violets, Dandelions, and Orange Blossom Honey.

Mama D’s Bakery: We make donuts, cookies, breads, rolls, pies, cakes, muffins, danishes, scones and more. We use healthy fats such as avocado, coconut and olive oil and butter, and we sweeten with organic raw sugars, honey, and maple syrup.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: The 10" Lettuce Bowls, a great way to get your salad mix, are gorgeous! More perennials are blooming, including carnations, dianthus, creeping phlox, geraniums, and pincushion plants. Needing some new landscaping? Try our azaleas! For the herb garden, we have spearmint plants and creeping rosemary, with more coming. The tall variegated and dwarf Solomon’s seals will really brighten your wildflower garden.

Oakview Farm: We have fresh and dried herbs, along with turkey, chicken and duck eggs. If you haven’t tried a turkey egg, they are scrumptious! They have a big beautiful yolk; great on a burger or a biscuit. One turkey egg is about the size of three small chicken eggs and they only lay in the Spring. Get them while you can. We are waiting for our microgreens to grow to baby salad mix and our spinach to grow to maturity.

Wedge Oak Farm: has come up with a new, fresh Springtime sausage! Wedge Oak Farm pasture-raised pork, salt, pepper, wild onion, wine and hog casing.

Flying S Farms: Low Sugar Peachy Jam and Low Sugar Strawberry Jam is now available. Enjoy our Sour Cream or Buttermilk Biscuits with almost anything!

Market is OPEN -- See you Wednesdayon the "CURB"

Welcome to this weeks Stones River Locally Grown Online Farmers Market. Reminder…Market is open until 10pm tonight.

Sending out another Weblog as a reminder for tonight but also a couple of our Growers wanted to send you a message.

Farrar Farm LLC.: Unfortunately is out of stock of 1 pound ground beef but has a good assortment of roasts and a few steaks.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: Brighten up your day with some our perennials. All the very early spring perennials are still available, and in addition a bunch of new ones have joined them recently. Unfortunately I cannot make them all featured, which is why I list them here. The very early azaleas are blooming, including my personal favorite, the white streaked with a little pink, and my other personal favorite, the pink with throat markings, both fall rebloomers. Another shrub in bloom right now is flowering almond, which really deserves a spot in your garden. The dwarf coreopsis is just beginning its long bloom cycle, and several mints are growing well. Three woodland phlox are blooming, including both purple and pink stolonifera as well as blue divaricata. These three will really light up your spring shady areas……Very new to the market this week, and very special, are the “Stacked Planters”. I have put some together with hardy herbs and some with hardy succulents, and am impatiently waiting till warmer weather to plant some with tender succulents. These planters have three layers which can be disassembled and rearranged as much as you like. I will be glad to bring one in to place on the market table for you to see if you’d like. Just drop me an email and let me know.Brighten up you day..week..and months ahead with perennials and few annuals.

As always, our pork comes from heritage breed pigs raised outdoors on a non-GMO, non-corn, non-soy diet. We have more products to add soon! But given the small batch, they won’t last long.

I started the dog treat business 6 years ago when all those treats were killing dogs and making others sick. I wanted to provide something safe and tasty to my rescue. Once I saw how much others liked my doggie treats I went into business. I do this to not only make a living but to provide free spay/neuters to cut down on all the dogs who end up in shelters or worse. I love being able to provide healthy, safe, yummy treats while helping the pet overpopulation problem. I make them gluten/wheat free so almost all dogs can eat them. 4 ingredients in each, pure and simple ingredients.

“Welcome March” for many of us Farmers/Growers this is the start of our growing season, preparing soil, starting seeds, getting excited for warmer weather and feeling the dirt! Soon the Market will be having fresh produce and fruits….exciting times ahead. In-the-mean time…Enjoy the Market this week with our Year-Round Growers offering some delicious choice from winter greens, meats, fermented foods and beverages, mushrooms and sprouts, baked goods and more.

News From Our Growers:

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farms): We have more forage greens – get them while they are available! They blend well in salads and sandwiches with rosemary thyme hummus, your choice of our gourmet mustards or shrubs, and a dollop of one of the tasty krauts from Short Mountain…It’s about time to pick up the last batch of elderberry and fire cider for the season.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: I’m suddenly finding myself into the beginning of the spring season. Who knew it would come on this quickly?…
Surprise! The very early perennials are in bloom at Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, and they could brighten your garden too. This week’s beauties include: Lenten rose, wild ginger, green Jacob’s ladder (Greek valerian), lavender woodland Phlox stolonifera, vinca (periwinkle or creeping myrtle), and candytuft. They are all in limited supply, so order early. The weather should be great for planting this week. But warm enough to plant means too warm for daffodils. This will probably be the last week of blooms, but I should have lots this week as they come on fast in the warmer weather. Get yours right away!

Mushamo Valley: Smoked Mozzarella Buns are a little nuggets of cheesy, bready goodness. Soft, tender yeast dough pillows are stuffed with chunks of smoked-mozzarella cheese, brushed with garlic butter, then dusted with Parmesan. When cheese loves bread very much, it’s a beautiful thing…Added The King Trumpet Mushroom this week they are a part of the Oyster Mushroom family. In fact, it’s the largest member of the family! They have a long shelf life and will happily hang out in a paper bag inside the refrigerator for a week, sometimes longer.

Short Mountain Cultures: Offering a range of Hatcher Dairy Milk on SRM!! Includes cream top whole milk, chocolate milk, half and half and heavy cream. Support local milk! It is some of the BEST milk around!… Also be sure to check out our Tempeh (pronounced TEM-pay)it is a cultured, fermented plant based protein native to Indonesia. I’m thinking it might actually be winter in Tennessee, maybe for a week anyway! Thank you to everyone that came a little early last week to avoid some of the heavy rains. Please be safe if there is bad weather, contact me if you can not pickup your order and we’ll make other arrangements for you “Safety First”.

Here is some News From Our Growers:

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farms): Check out our creamy and delicious hummus, our elderberry syrup, fire cider, and shrubs, our delicious herbal healing teas, and our gourmet herbal mustards! Our miner’s lettuce (Claytonia) is coming along, and we have been combining it with our wild rocket arugula and chickweed for a delicious, fresh, hand-picked, “foraged greens salad.“ We need to take a break from the greens this week, but should have enough next week for quite a few servings, so get ready! In the meantime,

Nom Noms Dog Treats: My name is Sandy, I’ve done dog rescue since I was a kid.

Mushamo Valley: New this week is TURTLE-LY RAD! That’s how you’ll be feeling with these adorable turtle buns! Hides a sweet surprise: white chocolate shavings are nestled inside to form a melty center. These are especially nice warmed with a cup of tea or coffee!… Oyster mushrooms naturally fruit in deciduous forests, but our little buddies grow up warm and cozy in the comfort of Mushamo Valley….The Sandwich Medley is a mega-tasty mix of mild Alfalfa and Red Clover sprouts added to zesty, crunchy Daikon Radish sprouts for big zippity, zingy flavor!

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: It’s daffodil time in Tennessee! The daffodils will come on fast if we have warmish weather. They should be available for at least two more weeks after this one, so if you miss out on the early blooms, please try again next week.

Short Mountain Cultures: We now offer a range of Hatcher Dairy Milk on SRM!! Our offerings include cream top whole milk, chocolate milk, half and half and heavy cream. Support local milk! It is some of the BEST milk around! Also be sure to check out our Tempeh (pronounced TEM-pay)it is a cultured, fermented plant based protein native to Indonesia. Delicious, versatile and quick to prepare tempeh readily accepts your favorite sauces, marinades and dry rub seasonings.

Wedge Oak Farm: We are back again this week with some delicious Meat items! Check out our Artisan Sausages; Tikka Turkey, Nashville Hot Chicken, Duck, Brats, Chorizo Links, French Meatloaf Links, Italian Mild and Medium Sausage.

Caney Fork Farms: Our Winter Season schedule with the Market is monthly, next times will be February 26th and March 25th, returning weekly in April 2020.
