News from some of our Growers:

Valentine Family Farm:
Our Valentine Family Farm’s Smoke House Salsa has a delicious smoke flavor because of it’s fire roasted vegetables. Serve it with chips or use it as an ingredient to add some smokiness to your next batch of chili.

Belle Fleur Organics:
Crunchy King Radishes: Gorgeous magenta radishes with a fresh and spicy flavor. Perfect for making pickles, adding to salads, or serving with tacos.
Olympus Bell Pepper: a large and delicious green bell pepper perfect for grilling, sautéing, stuffing. Bright, juicy-crisp, slightly acidic flavor pairs well with a variety of dishes.
Cayenne Peppers; Beautiful, flavorful heat. 2-4 inches in length. Perfect for stringing and drying, adding to chili or stews for some spice, or consuming medicinally.
Jalapenos; Fresh, dark green, and pleasantly spicy without being overwhelming. Great size for Jalapeño poppers (stuffed with duck sausage? We think so!). Also great for drying into chipotle peppers to use as seasoning.
Ping Tung Long Eggplant:
This delicious skinny eggplant is named for its place of origin in Ping Tung, Taiwan. It is truly the eggplant for people who say they don’t enjoy them, as trying them sautéed is enough to change your mind. Superior texture, lack of bitterness, and concentrations of vitamins A, C, and potassium are all great reasons to add this veggie to your stir-fry, pasta, or as a meat substitute for those trying to live a more plant-based existence.
Tusli Basil: Also know as Holy Basil, Tulsi is fragrant and smells slightly of bubble gum, is revered by Ayurveda practitioners, and makes a very relaxing tea. Healing addition to your own tea blends or an exciting salad component!

Rainbow Hill Farm: Delicious Apples this week…….
Jonagold: This apple is a cross of Jonathan and Golden Delicious. A tart flavor with some sweetness.
Mutsu: large green to yellow apple similar to yellow delicious, also a very good cooking apple.
Red Delicious: has a sweet but very mild flavor. The flesh is juicy and has a light crispness. Quite a refreshing apple to eat.
Yellow Delicious: Very sweet to the taste. It is a favorite for salads, apple sauce, and apple butter.
