*Hard to believe it is the last few days of August and soon the transition into the Fall weather. Labor Day Holiday weekend is a great time to enjoy getting outside, having family and friends over, light up the grills and enjoying several products our growers have available. *

News from some of our Growers this week:

Mama D’s Bakery: Hi everyone! We have added coffee glazed cake donuts this week! Also, we have everything else available this week too! We have bagels, breads, granola bars, protein bars, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cream cheese Danishes, fruit Danishes, donuts, fruit scones, mini fruit scones, pies, and soft pretzels. Get yourself or your family breakfast (scones make great grab and go breakfasts) or snacks and munchies or just a treat for the week!

Sow’s Ear Piggery: we have plenty of bratwursts and ground pork for a twist on “hot dogs and hamburgers” for Labor Day grilling OR go BIG with whole pork shoulder for barbecue! As always our Pork is Non-GMO, No Corn or Soy Fed.

Sassy Cassie: Our Celebration Yeast Rolls will be made with Red, White and Blue Sprinkles this week for Labor Day weekend brunches. Our Casseroles are a complete dish. Feed a family of 4 for $15, we’ve done the work for you so you’ll have time to spend with family and friends during the upcoming holiday.

C&M Valley Farm: Our baby chicks are growing up! We have both Beginner Eggs and Pasture Raised Free Range size eggs available this week.

Quarter Spring Farm: We still has delicious grass-fed lamb, but they are selling fast. New to the market this week, we have lamb liver available. Lamb liver has a milder flavor than beef liver, but is just as full of iron and vitamins. We also have jumbo chicken legs this week, just in time for your Labor Day grilling.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): We have a few more delicious Kieffer Pears, pickled black walnuts, in addition to our standard herbal fare of mustard, honey and herbal tea. We will be moving from Murfreesboro to the farm in Beechgrove soon, and as a result, will have to scale back on some of our offerings for a few weeks. We are building a house and will be living in an RV for about 6 weeks (talk about downsizing, right?) We expect to be in the house by the end of October and should be able to offer lettuce, spinach and micro greens by the end of September. Thank you for your patience and understanding during our transition.

Wedge Oak Farm: We have butchered a 100% grass fed beef this week after allowing for a two week dry age. The beef is unsurpassed in flavor and butchered into beautiful steaks that will delight your family this Labor day. Bone in and boneless pork chops are simple for your grill or the cast iron skillet. Just sear and simmer while your Nashville Hot Chicken Sausages and Mild Italian Sausages grill or bake to perfection. Another option for the grill is a Half Chicken. These pasture raised birds offer something for the breast lover and the dark meat aficionado as well. Shop locally at Stones River Market. We appreciate your patronage as well. Don’t forget to grab some breakfast sausage and a pack of Applewood Smoked bacon for your morning delight.

Farrar Farms LLC: Time to light up the grill for our Briskets and/or Beef Patties to enjoy during the Labor Day Holiday. We are continuing our GROUND BEEF SPECIAL, purchase 5 pounds of Ground Beef and get 1 pound FREE.

Rainbow Hill Farm: Apples available this week: Gala: these are sweet, fine textured, and aromatic. Ozark Gold: Has Golden Delicious in its breeding. Flavor is more tart. Rhode Island Greening: An heirloom apple. Originated in Rhode Island during colonial days. Crisp and juicy with tart. Yellow Delicious: Very sweet to the taste. It is a favorite for salads, apple sauce, and apple butter.

Flying S Farms: This week we have Green Beans, Corn, Okra, Garlic, Sweet Peppers, Tomatoes, Winter Squash are starting to come in, few Jams and Jelly, Artisan Breads and Sour Dough Bread.
