Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: I like to sell perennials in bloom in spring and summer for instant color in your garden, but fall really is the very best time to plant container-grown perennials, shrubs, or trees. Their root systems suffer very little transplant shock, compared to field-grown plant materials. Planting in September or October allows their root system to keep growing all winter in our climate. Maintenance, especially watering, is much easier, with cooler temperatures in fall, and better drought resistance next spring and summer. For this reason, I have made some of my more popular perennials available now, even though they aren’t in bloom in this season. These include the astilbes, dwarf crested iris, woodland phloxes, candytuft, dwarf coreopsis, and shasta daisy this week, with a few more to come. My late season bloomers will now bring color to your garden, including the fall reblooming azaleas, beautiful tall gauras, very unusual toadlily, and taller sedum. I have a huge selection of ferns and hostas ready to plant now in your shade garden, and you can get your whole herb garden planted this fall from my collection. Order soon, as some of these plants are in short supply at this time of year. I have a few nice young hanging baskets which will do a good job of replacing your tired old spring baskets to brighten the house this winter. Lastly, my beautiful Christmas decorations will soon be available for pre-order, including a new smaller size of natural decorated wreath. October orders will be the first ones filled in early December.

Linwood Lamb: This week we have a few delicious “NEW” items: Chorizo Lamb Brats, Fetta Cheese and Spinach Lamb Sliders and Lamb Kabobs! Enjoy our Spicy Italian Lamb Brats and Thick Cut Lamb Loin Chops and Thick Cut Lamb Rib Chops. We also have ‘Price Reduced’ Lamb Leg Steaks.

Pennie’s Delights: Last weeks pickup time was a delight to have Pennie and her husband setup with some of their products. If you have not had her Cinnamon Rolls you have missed out on a very delicious treat, soft and just the right amount of cinnamon and icing! The Peach Cobbler is a must for a after meal dessert or just a delicious treat. She also had several of her other items to purchase.

Linwood Lamb: Let me first say thank you for your lamb purchases over the past few months. Linwood Sheep Farm has been around for 5 generations, starting back in the 1940’s in the Linwood Community of Watertown. This past year we ventured into direct marketing our lamb to consumers. We have been overwhelmed at the positive response we have received by providing locally grown lamb to you.

We have been coming to the Stones River Market every week for several months. Sometimes we bring 4 to 5 orders, other weeks just 1 order. My questions is: Would it disrupt the way you shop if we continued with the market but only came every other week? Obviously, this would save us transportation dollars by doubling up the orders and just traveling twice a month to Murfreesboro as opposed to every week. The last thing we want is to create a burden for any of our customers.

Order this week and we will return in 2 weeks.
