News From Our Growers:

Farrar Farms LLC, Sow’s Ear Piggery, Quarter Spring Farm and Wedge Oak Farm: We all have great selections of Meats for the upcoming Fourth of July Holiday.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): Try our Rutabaga, Holy Basil (Tulsi), and Borage.

As a cross between turnips and cabbage, rutabagas have a sweeter, buttery and sweet-savory flavor. The roots, which are high in fiber but low in calories, can be eaten raw or cooked, they can be mashed, roasted, sautéed, fried, added to soups, and even eaten raw in salads or coleslaw.

Holy Basil (Tulsi) has floral and peppery notes with a spiced, lemony aroma and flavor. It is taken to ensure vibrant health and longevity. Tulsi is an adaptogenic, digestive, expectorant, and antioxidant.

Borage has many health-promoting properties, and has been used to decrease inflammation, improve skin health, and decrease symptoms of asthma. The leaf has a cucumber-like taste, and is often used in salads or as a garnish. The flower has a sweet honey-like taste and is often used to decorate desserts and cocktails, most commonly, frozen in ice cubes.

RnR Farms: Lettuce, lettuce, lettuce!!! Our lettuce is always naturally grown, in the ground, with love and care! Remember that during these hot and humid summer months, plan on giving your lettuce an ice bath before you eat it. That should quench any bitterness that may have crept in because of the heat and humidity. We also have a little bit of kale and some more zucchini this week. Enjoy!

Mama D’s Bakery: Thank you to everyone for a record week last week! We really do appreciate y’all so much! This week we are expanding our bagel flavor choices to include the “Everything” bagel and blueberry bagels. We have also added mini scones (they are about half the size of the regular ones) in both flavors.

Flying S Farms: Pole Beans, Cabbage, Cucumbers, Kale, Onions, Several different varieties of Summer Squash and Zucchini Squash and Green Tomatoes.

Look forward seeing you “At the Curb" of Quinn’s Mercantile Wednesday July 1st from 5:00 – 6:30pm, please contact me if you are unable to make delivery or are running late, please phone, email or text me so we can make arrangements to get your order to you. If we don’t hear from you, your order will be donated and you will be invoiced for the amount since we still need to pay our Growers for their products. Remember we can deliver it to you if necessary.
