News from Some of Growers:

Dogwood Walley Greenhouse: All the very early spring perennials are still available, and in addition a bunch of new ones have joined them recently. Unfortunately I cannot make them all featured, which is why I list them here. The very early azaleas are blooming, including my personal favorite, the white streaked with a little pink, and my other personal favorite, the pink with throat markings, both fall rebloomers. Another shrub in bloom right now is flowering almond, which really deserves a spot in your garden. The dwarf coreopsis is just beginning its long bloom cycle, and several mints are growing well. Three woodland phlox are blooming, including both purple and pink stolonifera as well as blue divaricata. These three will really light up your spring shady areas……Very new to the market this week, and very special, are the “Stacked Planters”. I have put some together with hardy herbs and some with hardy succulents, and am impatiently waiting till warmer weather to plant some with tender succulents. These planters have three layers which can be disassembled and rearranged as much as you like. I will be glad to bring one in to place on the market table for you to see if you’d like. Just drop me an email and let me know.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): This week we have forage greens (mostly miner’s lettuce and arugula for now) and our delicious Black Vanilla Tea to get you past the cloudy spring days! Also try some of our herbal healing and regular teas for a delicious (and cheaper) alternative to the OTC options. They are delicious hot or cold, and all quite nutritious. We also have our immune boosting essential oil recipe in both nasal inhalers and sustainable smelling salts……Try a gut-healthy Ginger-Fig or Wolfberry Mint shrub/tonic for great taste combined with nutritious ingredients. Use them also for a salad dressing with our Rosemary-Thyme Hummus….When you need to quarantine from the quarantine . . . Revitalizing Bath Salt

Quarter Spring Farm: We are pleased to offer a full selection of sizes of whole chickens, as well as select remaining cuts of chicken. We are happy to announce several new soap scents available through Stones River Market, as well. We have added Strawberry soap and shampoo, Grandma’s Garden, and Barnyard Berries to our available scents…….The CDC recommends frequent hand washing as one of the most effective ways to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Our goat milk soaps are made to be great for your skin, so you can pamper while you protect.

Wedge Oak Farm: We are excited to offer our locally farm raised meats this week! Ground Meats- All are 80/20%……Grass fed Beef, Pasture Pork, 100% Chicken,..,,,Breakfast Sausages: Pork: Medium, Hot, XSage….,,Poultry Medium available too!,,,,Honky Tonk Cheesesteak Sausage – beef, bacon, jalapeños, white cheddar.,…,,,We are loaded with pork and poultry links too. It is a great time for cooking at home and a roaster chicken or Half Chicken can feed you for several meals.,.,,,Check out stock parts, bones, and broths for your soups, beans and rice! A real stock is a great addition to staying healthy. Beef, Pork, Chicken, Turkey and Duck.,,.,,Beef Round Roasts, Boston Butts and Pork Ribs make a great dinner too. Put them in the Instapot for a faster finish in the oven.

Oakview Farm: We will again have our delicious chicken and duck eggs for sale this week. We are also looking forward to a great Spring growing season. We should have our Spring microgreens and Spinach and Kale next week!

Farrar Farm LLC: Regrettably we will not be on the market this week, we’ve sold out! If all goes as planned, we will have more products available next week.

Sow’s Ear Piggery: we have added more new cuts from the “small batch” order we recently processed. Spring-time temperatures are great for firing up the grill for chops or ribs. With Easter around the corner, think about a small fresh ham roast. These are not cured, but we can provide instructions and the tiny amount of “pink salt” insta-cure needed for a curing brine. These cuts and more (ground pork, cutlets, shoulder steaks) are from young, tender heritage-breed pigs, fed a non-GMO, no-corn, non-so, non-antibiotic diet. USDA inspected.

BB’s Gourmet Pretzels: Take a break, sit back with a bag of our delicious and could be addictive flavors of our pretzels. Also have Gluten Free Pretzels and Gluten Free Peanut butter cookies. (Comment: the Smudges are over the top delicious! by Catherine, Market Manager)

Flying S Farms: Our Squadron of Chickens have been eggcitingly producing eggs for the market this week. Several Breads available; Sour Dough, Artisan style and Friendship Breads, most all these breads make delicious as ‘French Toast’! Brownies and Lemon Bars, Cinnamon Cake Bars, I will be adding Jams as I prepare them today and Salad Onions are available.

Mo’Scrubs by Toya: Treat yourself or love one with our products. From head to toe, relaxing and beneficial. Your body will thank you.

Caney Fork Farms: Unfortunately we will not be able to open on the Market this week. Planning to return to Market starting in April.
