Good August Morning...Market is OPEN!

I am apprehensive writing the Blog this morning after all the challenges I’ve had with a new computer. Thank You, John for helping me through this and everyone that responded to his blog letting me know it’s not the Weblog but narrowed it down to the provider that was installedon the computer. My fingers are crossed when I hit the send button.

I’m enjoying the cooler morning of August and the wonderful colors of summer. Red tomatoes, yellow corn, green peppers, new fall crops coming up. I’m taking it all in knowing full well in another month or so the Fall Colors will be drifting in and our Tennessee pallet of beauty will change again.

Be sure to check out all the wonderful items of summer on the market. Many summer vegetables are in peek season and so delicious.

Trinity Rose Oberhasli Dairy Goats:
Do you ever have breakfast for supper? I do sometimes. In truth, I don’t enjoy cooking, but I also don’t like to eat out – too expensive and too processed! Sometimes, after a long day, I will scramble up some fresh eggs and top it with crumbled goat cheese and diced fresh (Flying S Farms) tomatoes. It is fast and a GREAT meal. The other night I had my son and his fiancé over for dinner and wanted to make something nice, but simple. I put about ½ cup of goat cheese (Chevre) in a bowl, added some crushed garlic and a splash of lemon juice and mixed it up (it tasted great!) I filled some baby portabella mushroom caps with the mixture and topped with a bit of fresh tomato and baked in the oven (350*) for about 15-20 minutes. DELICIOUS!

Rainbow Hill Farm:
Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Cherry Tomatoes, Okra and Ginger Gold Apples

Flying S Farms:
Silver Queen Corn, Mixed Sweet Bell Peppers and Several Varieties of Tomatoes

Looking forward seeing you on “The Porch” of Quinn’s Mercantile.
