The Market is Back Open - A New Grower Joins the Market

This post expired on November 10, 2023.

The Market is back open this morning and we have a new farmer/producer joining us. Cedar Thicket Farm joins us by listing bay leaves and chamomile flowers. In the near future, they will be adding an organically produced vanilla extract.

Other news this week:
Both Erdmann Farm and Meadow Branch Beef are taking this week off but will return next week with a full inventory of items.

Ferris Family Farm has added 1/2 pound bags of spinach this week. Just in time for those large gatherings getting ready to occur.

Rocky Glade Farm wants me to let you know this is the last week for winter squash from them. They have also packaged some of their sweet potatoes in half and full bushels.

From Dogwood Valley Greenhouse this week:

Hanging baskets are on clearance, originally $10, reduced to $7, now on clearance for $5 each. Includes Creeping Jenny, Flame Violet, Swedish Ivy (Green), 3 different Wandering Jew colors (purple-and-silver or green-and-white or “Purple Heart”), and New Guinea Impatiens. I have only a couple of each left, so get yours now!

I have just a few Downy Lavender plants left. This tender lavender is regularly $7 each, now on sale for $5 each. Keep it inside in a sunny location all winter, and it will be big and healthy to transplant to the garden next spring. This is a novel type of lavender and well worth taking inside through winter.

Thanksgiving baskets are now available. Each basket is lined with seasonal fabric and filled with three herbs, commonly used in cooking at this time of the year. Included is a printed sign with names and uses of the plants. Please select from this list and specify herbs to be included: lemon balm; orange, pineapple, grapefruit, or chocolate mint; Greek or variegated oregano; silver-edged or lime thyme. These will make beautiful hostess gifts at Thanksgiving time. If intended as a gift, please order early to allow time for custom preparation. NOTE: Plants will thrive if set into garden and are winter hardy. Price includes basket and plant labels. These herb baskets are in limited supply so get yours soon!

I also have a limited supply of succulent planters. Smaller ones include 4 or 5 assorted succulents, and larger ones include 6. These will brighten your table all winter, and make great Christmas gifts. Get yours soon!

Finally, there is still time to reserve your turkey for Thanksgiving from Wedge Oak Farm and West Wind Farms.

Thank you for your orders last week.

John
