But we are committed (in more ways than one) to providing locally grown, naturally grown, better than organic salad greens to you year-round. We also grow items that complement salads, such as cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and other greens. So as the weather heats up, choose an RnR Farms salad bag and the appropriate accessories to fully enjoy the coolness that locally grown, naturally grown salads will bring.

Quarter Spring Farm: Summer is great. Long days at the lake and long nights around the campfire. Good times with friends and family. And bugs. Lots of bugs. If you want to enjoy being outside without being feasted on by flying foes, try our Bug Off bar from Quarter Spring Farm. It is formulated to be easy on your skin and the planet, but hard on bugs. We have several new scents available for our lotion bars and have released our seasonal summer soap scents: Kiss from a Rose and Cream Soda. Be sure to check them out this week on the market.

Several items still available from some of the markets other Growers:

Quarter Spring Farm: We have updated our selection of available soaps, including two new floral scents. We are also pleased to introduce our all-natural lotion bars to the Stone’s River market. We have several scents available, including a bug repellant variety. If your family loves chicken, now is the time to get them some of the tastiest birds around from your friends at Quarter Spring.

Mama D’s Bakery: Hi everyone! We have everything available this week! We have Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Strawberry Swirl Bread, Raspberry Swirl Bread, and Apple Cinnamon Swirl Bread, Blueberry Muffins, Crusty French Bread, Organic White Wheat Bread, Mocha Muffins, Chocolate Swiss Roll, Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls, Blueberry Lemon Yeast Rolls, Banana Bread and Pumpkin Bread(with the option of nuts or not), Bagels(plain, cinnamon-raisin, blueberry, and everything), Donuts(cake and yeast), Cream Cheese Danishes, Pies(chocolate fudge, pecan, chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato), Cookies, Granola and Protein Bars, Yeast Breads, Sourdough Breads, and Fruit Scones. Thanks so much to everybody for your business!!

Belle Fleur Organics: Enjoy our Bright Spring Lettuce Mix, Red Russian Kale, Rainbow Swiss Chard. We will also have a small stand set up during delivery to introduce ourselves and bring other delicious produce.

RnR Farm: Excited to offer, Baby Japanese Mustard Greens (delicious in stir fries), Free Range Organic Fed Chicken Eggs, Baby Kale Blend, Red Leaf Lettuce, Red Leaf Lettuce Heads, Romaine Trio, Lettuce Blend and Costata Romanesca Zucchini – it is nuttier and richer flavor than typical zucchini you find elsewhere.

Sassy Cassies: Due to higher gas prices (driving from Nashville) Sassy Cassies will only be available on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse is overflowing with tomato plants, finally. The weather has been too unpredictable to harden them off, but it is time they were in your yard doing that, rather than in mine. All the varieties I am offering this year are heirlooms, and several have very multi-colored fruits. I have added several different varieties to my listings this year. These plants have been inside too long, where they did not get enough light, and are therefore a bit “leggy.” (I had planned to list them by May 1, but the weather has not cooperated.) But if you plant them deeply, they will grow fantastic root systems out of the long underground stem, and bear even larger harvests of fruit because of it. I will be listing them a few at a time, as I get them potted up. If you do not see what you would like this week, please feel free to drop me a request, and I will do my best to fill it. Please remember to harden them off before planting into the full sun vegetable garden, and if you need help with that, drop me a note.

It is also time for Fresh-Cut Herbs, which taste so much better than dried! The selection of herbs will vary from week to week, as my stock plants grow through the summer. If you are looking for something, please drop me a request. I will also have a good selection of herb plants for sale, if you would rather grow your own.

Watch next week for a greatly expanded listing of Hostas to add color and texture variation to your shady areas. And if you have not picked up some astilbes yet, you should get some soon, as they are about to come into bloom. I will also add a good selection of hanging baskets for your porch, both blooming and foliage, but that is all I will say about them for now.

Oh, yes – for the sunny areas – Coneflowers in abundance, and almost starting to show color now. They will be on the market within two weeks, I’d say

Flying S Farms: Chinese Cabbage varieties: Pac Choi, Bok Choi, and Napa available this week along with assorted onions choices and stalks of Green Garlic, Bundled and Loose Leaf Siberian Kale and Red Russian are making an appearance. Our delicious Chicken Eggs are available every week. Due to conflicting appointments our Baked Items and Jams and Jellies will be back on the market soon.

Special News From:

  • Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:
  • Now is a great time to plant perennials, and Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has a good selection available. Some area
garden centers have had a hard time stocking their shelves this spring, as one of the primary area sources of plants
has closed. I’ve traveled around all over middle Tennessee to source some new baby perennial plants, and am therefore
able to sell the nice ones I’ve been collecting in past years. My market offerings have now been updated, notably including
hostas for shady areas, and fresh cut herbs for your dinner table. In the next couple of weeks, watch for additions of
pepper and tomato plants for the vegetable garden (when they get hardened off), as well as more mid- and
    late-season blooming perennials.
  • As always, if you are looking for something specific, please contact me, as it’s possible I have a couple in reserve.
