Sow’s Ear Piggery: we are back on the market this week with ‘NEW’ Non-GMO pork products, including pork tenderloin, cutlets, and chops, as well as roasts, ground pork, and mild pork sausage (no MSG).
You will notice some packaging changes with the ground products, as our butcher was unable to source the typically tube-like sleeves we are accustomed to getting. Also, this order was from a pig with a higher fat percentage due to its heritage breeding. In the past, if you have needed to add a little oil to fry our sausage or ground pork, this will not be necessary. In fact, you will be able to drain a couple of tablespoons of oil from your skillet. This rendered lard is excellent for sauteing garlic, onions, mushrooms, or cooking eggs. Studies have shown that outdoor, pasture-raised pigs have higher omega 3 and lower saturated fat than commercial pork raised in warehouses on concrete with no access to foraging. As always, Sow’s Ear Piggery pork is non-GMO fed and USDA inspected.

Flying S Farms: This week we have our Fresh Farm Chicken Eggs, Green Garlic Bulbs, Zucchini and Yellow Straight neck Squash, Scallop Squash, Cucumbers, Onions and Potatoes, Sweet Peppers, Peaches & Cream Corn if we get some rain, will add to our inventory when we do. Grower’s News:

Bean Man: We’ve added Bean Girl’s Gluten Free Guacamole Dip recipe to our website recipe page to help you with the hotter temperatures. If you follow on social media, we posted a picture of it along with some very good Gluten Free chips (we finally found some) – On The Border.

We have our full selection of Fresh Dry Beans, Bean Mixes, Scottish Oatmeal, Gluten Free Flours and Ready to Mix products. Although we don’t sell the guacamole dip, we do have our Black Bean Dip for you which just needs water and salsa to make about 3-1/2 cups of fresh and refreshing dip – each package contains 4 packets with each making the 3-1/2 cups so it goes a long way and is a quick treat – try the chips mentioned above to keep it totally Gluten Free. Also consider some sour cream as a side for it or thinly spread across the dip for an extra touch.

RC Farms: Along with a great assortment of produce and BEEF we now have some popular fruit available and more to come. Find Cantaloupes, Peaches & Cream Corn and Peaches this week. We’ve restocked our Beef selections.

Terry’s Treasures: I have started making beautiful hand painted vases that will let you showcase your own beautiful flowers. Several different color designs or you can request your own color.

Quarter Spring Farm: we have a plethora of plump chickens for your culinary escapades. We just finished processing our first batch of the year, so these are some fine fresh fowl. We also have our usual assortment of skin softening soaps and lotions. And we just introduced a brand new scent of lotion: coconut lime. Now you can smell like the beach, even if you’re actually stuck inland with the rest of us.

Flying S Farms: This week we have our Fresh Farm Chicken Eggs, Green Garlic Bulbs, Yellow Straight neck Squash, Scallop Aquash, Cucumbers, Onions and Potatoes, Sweet Peppers, Peaches & Cream Corn. Baked items NOT available this week, everything is fine but medical followup appointments take prioity this week!

Thank you and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Grower’s News:

Bean Man: Happy Father’s Day! We trust everyone is enjoying the somewhat cooler weather.

We have our full selection of Fresh, Non GMO, Gluten Free products available for you this week. Don’t overlook our Cassava and Coconut Bread Mixes with each package containing 2 packs of dry ingredients (you supply the wet ingredients) to make 1.5+ pound delicious loaves of shortbread which can be sliced thick or thin to your preference. If you prefer a taller loaf more suited to a sandwich, just use a more narrow loaf pan such as the disposable 3.5 wide x 8 long ones found at the grocery store which increase the height from 2.5" to about 3.5". For those looking to reduce carbs, the Coconut Bread checks in at 2.4 net carbs per slice based on 10 slices per loaf and you can reduce the count further with thinner slices. Due to schedule, we won’t be offering the baked loaves this week but they’ll be back soon!

If you’re looking for an easy and light snack, check out our Black Bean Dip Mix – each package comes with 4 packs with each pack making about 3.5 cups of dip – all you need is water and salsa. You can also have sour cream as a side or thin topping if preferred. If you are Gluten Free, try “On The Border” chips found in the grocery store – we’ve tried several and these are really good.

New’s from a few of our Grower’s:

RC Farms: Along with a great assortment of produce and BEEF we now have some popular fruit available and more to come. Find Cantaloupes, Peaches & Cream Corn and Peaches this week. We’ve restocked our Beef selections.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): We’ve got onions, radicchio, and giant red mustard! Also check out our pestos, gourmet mustards, and our beautiful wildflower arrangements.

Bean Man: It’s baking time again for the market! We will have our Gluten Free Cassava and Coconut Shortbreads this week and we will also offer a taller loaf for each one. Each is listed under Gluten Free in the Baked Products section of the Market as either a Short Bread (approximately 4.5 wide x 8.5 long x 2.5 high at the crest) version or Standard Version (approximately 3.5 wide x 8 long x 3.5 high at the crest) with each giving you 10-16 slices depending on your preference. BTW, the Coconut Bread is considered low carb (2.4 g net carbs at 10 slices per loaf).

Of course we have our full selection of Fresh Dry Beans and Mixes available along with our Scottish Oatmeals, Gluten Free Flours and Ready to Mix products covering a broad range of healthy dietary needs that you can truly enjoy. If you follow us on social media, we have been planting our next crop of beans and our last plant of oats is working its way to harvest. Remember, we are a Gluten Free farm and we grow or make all of our products that you see offered so everything is fresh, without chemicals and only offered in the same season of harvest.

Spring Meadow Farm: this week Bacon Cheese Quiche, Brussell Sprout Leaves, Cauliflower Leaves, Garlic Bulbs, Shallots, Yellow Onions.

Flying S Farms: This week we have our Fresh Farm Chicken and EGG BUNDLES-3 dozen, great savings! Green Garlic Bulbs and Garlic Scapes still available, Curly leaf lettuce, Several different varieties of Kale, Kohlrabi. Yellow Straight neck Squash, Cucumbers, Onions and Potatoes, Sour Dough Breads, Plain and the our Wheat Bread is Back. Few popular Jams are back with more to come this week – Just Strawberry, Seriously HOT Strawberry, Habanero Peach, Muscadine Grape Jelly and more!

Thank you and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Weblog from a few of our Grower’s:

Linwood Farm: Here is a list of benefits consuming Lamb;

Nutrient Rich
Lamb is naturally nutrient rich. It’s packed with an array of essential nutrients and is an excellent source of protein, zinc, riboflavin, niacin, iron and vitamins.

Almost every cut of lamb is naturally tender, and you don’t need to add much seasoning to make it full-flavored. It doesn’t need to be marinated. Instead, we’ve found it best to season lamb simply with salt and pepper, along with other aromatic ingredients like chopped garlic, rosemary and oregano.
It’s fancy enough to serve for a dinner party or holiday meal, but it’s also simple and easy enough to cook for a weeknight dinner.

Linwood lamb chops are cut 2”thickand are lean, tender and delicious! With their perfect serving size and attractive “T” shaped bone that runs through the meat, loin chops are simple to prepare. Season with salt and pepper then grill, broil or panfry the chops for a delicious meal.

Linwood leg steaks can be lightly salted and peppered and put right on the grill as any other steak. Cook to 135-1400F and they are ready to serve for a quick and easy main course.

Spicy Italian Brats are a new menu item at Linwood Farm. We’ve found they can easily be prepared on the stove or grill. If you want a really unique taste try smoking them on the grill for an hour or so. Yum!

Linwood Ground Lamb is a diverse product. It is the perfect substitute for ground beef in many recipes, ground lamb offers a long list of possibilities for quick and easy weeknight dinners: meatballs, burgers and sliders, shepherd’s pie, kabobs, and meatloaf. Add aromatic seasonings to impart delicious flavor and variety to any meal made with ground lamb.

Bean Man:
We trust everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather this weekend. We have all of our Fresh Dry Beans, Bean Mixes, Scottish Oatmeal and Gluten Free Flours available for the market. Need a shortcut for a healthy meal or snack? Check out our Ready to Mix products which include 3 bread mixes, 2 pancake mixes, 2 soups, 5 pizza crust mixes as well as bean dip and refried beans. All are gluten free and we have several options to satisfy vegan, vegetarian, keto, paleo diets. We provide the dry ingredient mixes and you provide the wet ingredients for easy and healthy options to your diet.
