News From Our Growers:

Short Mountain Cultures: Product Highlight this week, what is beet kvass? It’s a delicious savory probiotic beverage! Tastes salty and sour like kraut with the earthiness of beets. Start with a 2 ounce shot or add to salad dressing, seltzer, or other juices or smoothies. “This drink is valuable for its medicinal qualities and as a digestive aid. Beets are just loaded with nutrients. One 4 oz glass, morning and night is an excellent blood tonic, cleanses the liver and is a good treatment for kidney stones…” -Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions. Short Mountain Culture offers several different flavors of veggie kvass including beet, ginger beet, golden beet and kimchi juice.

Quarter Spring Farm: We have Whole Chickens ranging from 4 to 7 pounds and select cuts available weekly during the winter season. Our handmade goat milk soaps are great for your skin or as a gift for your loved ones. Check out our stylish reusable cloth napkins, they are listed in Handmade & Gifts Category.

Mushamo Valley: Featuring this week; Jake Hates Sprouts is a tasty blend of alfalfa, red clover, broccoli, kale, and burgundy amaranth sprouts. Not merely for invigorating plain ole salads, this blend is well-suited to burgers and sandwiches, sprinkled on tacos or omelets, gently stirred into scramble eggs, or used as a delicious and eye-catching soup topper…..The Sandwich Medley is a mega-tasty mix of mild Alfalfa and Red Clover sprouts added to zesty, crunchy Daikon Radish sprouts for big zippity, zingy flavor!…..Captain James Cook’s Sprouts are not a blend, but rather all Alfalfa, all the time! Try adding these lil’ ‘pirate plants’ as sandwich or burger toppers, smoothie add-ins, sprinkled into salads, or scrambled into your eggs. Trust us, you ARRRRGH going to love them!
