I put sprigs of this in my homemade pizza and spaghetti sauces, then pull them out when done. Good in any Italian dishes that call for oregano. The plants were hardy through last winter. I will enclose a bit of root so you can plant some if you wish.

Oregano is a warm and aromatic yet slightly bitter herb. The dish most commonly associated with oregano is pizza.

There's nothing like fresh oregano in sauces and soups, or on pizza, salads, even pork or veal. To keep cut herbs longer, fill a small cup or glass with enough water to cover the bottom of the stems to where the leaves start and place in a cool location in your kitchen. Just keep a check on the water level if you don't use all of your oregano quickly.

Jacob's Ladder, or Greek Valerian, is a very pretty, easy-to-grow small native woodland wildflower perfect for the spring shade garden or flower border, especially in moist low or rocky woods. It pairs superbly with broad leaved perennials such as hostas. Its delicate lacy foliage with a narrow, bright white edge forms a low mound. From early to midsummer, a plethora of pink buds open to reveal small, very pale blue flowers. After it is finished blooming, the plant may need to be cut back to allow for a fresh flush of foliage. Jacob's Ladder roots have been used for kidney troubles and as a diuretic.

With fuzzy, silvery green, soft as suede leaves, Lamb's Ears are favored for their foliage, rather than their flowers. They flower on tall spikes in shades of pinkish purple or white, in the late spring or early summer. Bees love the slightly fragrant flowers. Don't try to use Lamb's Ears as a specimen plant. They look best either as a rambling ground cover or as soft edging. Aside from dead-heading, Lamb's Ears require very little maintenance. Because the leaves sit so close to the ground, rotting can be a problem. Mulching under the plants helps to keep the leaves dry. Be sure to give them well-drained soil.
